SONOGRAPHERS
Heart Services comprises the Logan Heart Centre, Greenslopes Heart Centre and the Redlands Heart Centre.
Our large technical team consists of both Cardiac Technicians and Cardiac Sonographers.
All Cardiac Sonographers at Heart Services hold postgraduate qualifications specific in the area of cardiac ultrasound, having completed either the Diploma of Medical Ultrasound (DMU) from the Australasian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine (ASUM) or the Graduate Diploma of Cardiac Ultrasound from the Queensland University of Technology (QUT).
All of our sonographers are registered cardiac sonographers with the Australian Sonographers Accreditation Registry (ASAR) as either accredited student sonographers or accredited medical sonographers (AMS).
The role of the Cardiac Sonographer encompasses the performance of transthoracic echocardiograms and exercise stress echocardiograms.
Our sonographers are committed to continuing professional development, participating in regular in-house training as well as attending both national and international echocardiography conferences, so as to ensure that their knowledge and skill base remain up to date and reflect current clinical practice.
At Heart Services, several of our senior sonographers are currently either clinical supervisors for students enrolled in the DMU or QUT programs or our current examiners for the DMU, thus demonstrating our commitment to the profession of sonography.
